On behalf of Academy of Art University, I welcome you to the 23rd Annual Faculty and Alumni Fine Art Auction. Eighty-nine years ago, my grandfather established this school with the mission to support the creativity of emerging artists. Today, I invite you to continue this legacy by bidding on the works of some of the finest internationally known artists in San Francisco.
As in past years, half of the proceeds of each sale will go to benefit students through the Fine Art Student Scholarship Fund, with the remaining funds going directly to the artists themselves. Each spring, the Fund awards scholarships to the top students at our annual Spring Student Showcase in a variety of categories, from fine art painting to sculpture and printmaking.
I would like to personally thank Dr. Craig Nelson, Executive Director, School of Fine Art – Painting, for spearheading this auction 23 years ago, and for nurturing its growth beyond Academy of Art University’s established communities.
I also extend my appreciation to all faculty and alumni who energetically support this endeavor by graciously providing the artworks that drive this non-profit fund-raising auction.
Thank you for participating and we hope you enjoy an evening of lively auctioning, complete with music, fine food, and good friends.
