Dean Larson is a resident of San Francisco with roots on the East Coast, where he has long been associated with the resurgence of the American Realist Movement. He has written books, has been featured in numerous art periodicals, and has shown in museums and galleries across the U.S. He has also completed six solo exhibitions at the John Pence Gallery.
Larson is a restless, experimental artist who thrives on diversity. He is equally adept with landscapes, still-lifes, interiors and figurative painting as he is with the cityscapes of Europe, the East Coast and San Francisco.
Larson’s commissioned portraits and paintings can be found in corporate collections, universities, museums, churches and courthouses. He has won the coveted Stacey National Award and Pollack-Krasner Foundation Grant. Larson has taught at the Academy of Art University since 2005 and maintains a studio near the Mission Dolores neighborhood.
